New York Water Utility Companies

We are pleased to present our annual water quality report covering all testing conducted between January 1 and December 31, 2017. Throughout the years, we have dedicated ourselves to producing tap water that meets all state and federal standards.

Our water system serves more than 10,700 residents through 3,200 service connections. In 2017, we produced 502 million gallons of water, with a daily average treatment of 1.35 million gallons. Of the total production, 260 million gallons were billed to customers, while the remainder was used for firefighting, hydrant maintenance, distribution system leaks, and filter backwashing at our treatment facility.

The Village of Fredonia draws water from the Fredonia Reservoir, which has an estimated storage capacity of 295 million gallons. The reservoir is fed by a watershed covering more than 5 square miles, most of which is undeveloped and heavily forested. We also maintain an emergency interconnection with the City of Dunkirk that can provide up to 800,000 gallons per day if needed during emergencies or drought conditions.

In November 2017, we experienced an incident requiring a "Boil Water Order" following a major water main break. The break was challenging to repair due to its depth, and we purchased water from Dunkirk as our reserves were critically low. The order was lifted after required testing confirmed water safety, with no violations issued. Public notifications were promptly communicated throughout this process.
