  3. I cannot pay my bill by the due date, what should I do? If you haven't paid before your due date, you must contact the office immediately. Payments on the due date must be received by 4:30 p.m.
  4. Can I negotiate my bill amount? The Utility Department cannot modify charges without proper documentation. You may need to consult with customer service if you believe there's an error in your billing.
  5. Can I dispute a water quality issue? New York State has specific procedures for water quality complaints. A resident must submit concerns in writing or through official channels.
  6. Can I request financial assistance? The Municipal Court has no general assistance program. However, the office may offer payment plans if: you provide evidence of financial hardship; and there is a demonstrable need for assistance. Both requirements must be met.
  7. What if I believe my water meter is faulty? Upon a formal request, the matter will be investigated at a later date. This allows technicians to examine and test your equipment.
  8. Do I need a plumber for water quality issues? You aren't required to hire a plumber, however, it's often recommended for identifying internal plumbing problems versus municipal supply issues.
