Golden State Water thanks California customers for their exceptional conservation efforts and encourages everyone to continue using water responsibly to support the state's drought recovery. Following unusually dry winter periods, all residents must practice wise water usage and embrace conservation as part of the California lifestyle.
On May 9, 2016, Governor Jerry Brown issued an Executive Order permanently prohibiting wasteful water practices. These include:
- Hosing off sidewalks, driveways and other hardscapes
- Washing vehicles without a shut-off nozzle on the hose
- Operating decorative fountains unless the water recirculates
- Watering outdoor landscapes that causes excess runoff
- Irrigating within 48 hours after measurable rainfall
- Watering ornamental turf in public street medians with potable water
