Michigan Water Utility Companies

We're proud to report that your municipal water consistently meets or exceeds all federal and national safety standards for drinking water quality.

This water quality report contains essential information about your water source, Lake Michigan, and what might be found in it. Water from the lake naturally collects minerals while also potentially gathering substances from animal habitats, agricultural operations, and human activities.

Some substances that might enter Lake Michigan include microorganisms from wildlife and human sources, salts, metals, agricultural chemicals, and industrial byproducts. The EPA establishes Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs) to ensure tap water remains safe for consumption. Our water system does have a relatively high susceptibility to contaminants. For a complete Source Water Assessment, please call our office at 616-399-6511.

Regarding lead concerns: Elevated lead levels can pose serious health risks, particularly for pregnant women and young children. While we deliver high-quality water, we cannot control the materials used in home plumbing systems. To minimize potential exposure, flush your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes after water has been sitting for several hours. If concerned, consider having your water tested. Additional lead information is available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 800-426-4791 or www.Epa.Gov/safewater/lead.

Grandville Municipal Water Report Information

When Grandville became a City in 1933, Henry Zandbergen served as the first Police Chief until 1940. Peter Rinkevich succeeded him, responding to calls in the city's first radio-equipped squad car while his wife managed police and fire communications from their home. Chief Rinkevich served until 1951, when he tragically died in an off-duty automobile accident.

In more recent history, Chief Vern Snyder was appointed in 1999 and established several important programs including the School Police Liaison Officer program, Honor Guard, and Consolidated Identity Theft Team. Following Snyder's retirement in 2008, Dennis Santo became Chief, serving until 2012 when Dan Steere was promoted to the position.

Today's Grandville Police Department serves over 15,000 residents (2010 census) with 24 sworn officers, continuously adapting to community needs. The City Clerk's office maintains all official city records with staff including the Clerk, Deputy Clerk and two Department Assistants who handle voter registration, elections, business licensing, and City Council documentation. Additional services include general information, permit processing, ordinance management, absentee voting, passport services, notarization, and Senior Center rental coordination.
