   Signs include soft, wet spots in your yard, unexpected increases in water usage, or audible running water. Toilet leaks are especially common and can waste up to 6,000 gallons daily. Free leak detection tablets are available at the RMU Business Office.

11. Why is fluoride added to our water?
    Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay and is recommended by the American Dental Association. It's also required by City Ordinance #2886.
12. What is a backflow prevention device and when is it required?
    These devices protect public water from contamination through cross-connections. They're required wherever cross-connections exist or contamination potential is identified, particularly in fire sprinkler and irrigation systems.
13. Is backflow preventer testing mandatory?
    Yes, annual testing by state-certified testers is required by law, with results submitted to RMU.
