King County Water District 111

The District maintains seven deep water wells and an interconnection with Covington Water District. Since December 2017, approximately 20,000 customers are served through the District's 5,956 water meters. The Covington Water District intertie supplies between 750,000 and 1.2 million gallons daily depending on system demands. Our wells provide the remainder of supply requirements and ensure consistent water flow.

District Boundaries: Lake Meridian sits centrally within our District. The northern boundary follows SE 240th Road, while Highway 18 forms the southern and eastern boundaries with 298th at the southwest corner. The approximate eastern edge is 156th Avenue SE, and the western border runs along 124th Avenue SE.

Public Meetings: Board meetings occur on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays monthly at 9:00 AM in the District office. We welcome residents to attend and learn about your Water District's efforts to provide reliable, cost-effective water service.

Important Health Information from EPA: All municipal water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain small amounts of some contaminants. Water sources (tap and bottled) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals, potentially radioactive materials, and may collect substances from animal presence or human activity.

Potential source water contaminants include:

• Microbial contaminants (viruses, bacteria) from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
• Inorganic contaminants (salts, metals) occurring naturally or from urban runoff, industrial/domestic wastewater, oil/gas production, mining, or farming
• Pesticides and herbicides from agricultural and residential uses
• Radioactive contaminants that occur naturally
• Organic chemical contaminants from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, urban stormwater runoff, and septic systems

EPA regulations limit contaminant levels in public water systems to ensure safe drinking water. Water District #111 conducts regular monitoring and treatment following EPA guidelines. FDA regulations establish similar safety limits for bottled water.

Lead Information: Elevated lead levels can cause serious health issues, particularly for pregnant women and young children. Lead in municipal water primarily comes from service line materials and home plumbing components. While Water District 111 provides high-quality water, we cannot control plumbing materials used in homes. If water has been sitting for several hours, minimize lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. If concerned, consider having your water tested.
