The page 3 table displays Pond Forest's 2007 water quality analysis results. Every regulated contaminant detected in the water, even in minimal traces, is listed. The table includes each substance name, maximum allowable level (MCL), public health goals, detected amounts, typical contamination sources, explanatory footnotes, and measurement units.

Understanding MCL and MCLG definitions is crucial. Water Plant Operators conduct approximately 12,000 annual tests on samples from treatment processes and distribution systems to ensure water quality.

Key definitions:

  • Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL): Highest permitted contaminant level in municipal water, set as close to MCLGs as possible using best available treatment technology.
  • Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG): Contaminant level below which no known or expected health risks exist, allowing safety margin.
  • Action Level (AL): Contaminant concentration that, when exceeded, triggers required treatment or other water system protocols.
  • Treatment Technique (TT): Required process intended to reduce contaminant levels in water.

The data presented comes from the most recent regulatory testing. "Level Found" indicates average sample results collected during the CCR calendar year, sometimes representing a single sample if that was all collected. "Range of Detections" shows the span from lowest to highest individual sample results collected during the CCR year. When a date appears in the testing column, Illinois EPA requires less frequent monitoring because concentrations typically remain stable.
