About Us
We at Mount Laurel MUA (MLTMUA) are pleased to share our 2017 water quality results with our community. Our dedicated water specialists focus on delivering exceptional water quality, as reflected in our comprehensive testing outcomes.
In 2017, our team conducted over 17,000 analyses on our water supply. The results confirm that your tap water not only meets federal and state standards – it consistently exceeds them. This report includes test results for detected contaminants as required by federal law.
We continually invest in maintaining our water infrastructure through our Capital Improvement Plan. Projects range from well rehabilitation to water main replacement and treatment plant maintenance. In 2017 alone, we invested nearly $1.5 million in municipal water system improvements.
Our current 10-year municipal water system renewal plan is projected at over $24 million, with an additional $46 million allocated for wastewater system projects. All operational costs and facility investments are funded entirely through customer payments, allowing us to provide water for less than a penny per gallon.
After reviewing this report, if you have questions about water sources or quality, please contact us through our website or call the number listed below.
How Is Your Water Quality Protected?
The EPA establishes regulations limiting contaminants in public water systems through the Safe Drinking Water Act. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) administers this Act locally to safeguard your water quality.
Our Water Quality Monitoring Program exceeds required monitoring frequencies, enabling us to deliver the highest quality water possible. FDA guidelines also establish limits for contaminants in bottled water to ensure public health protection.
All municipal water, including bottled varieties, may contain small amounts of some contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. Currently, MLTMUA has sampling waivers for certain organic contaminants and asbestos, granted by NJDEP after thorough evaluation of past water quality data and geographic vulnerability assessments.

Our mission is to provide safe, reliable and affordable water and wastewater services to our customers in an environmentally responsible manner while remaining responsive to our community's needs.
About MLTMUA
The Mount Laurel MUA was established in 1965 by Mount Laurel Township to provide water and wastewater services to residents. As a public entity, we're funded entirely through water and wastewater operation revenues, not through municipal or state taxes.
Our five-member Board of Directors, appointed by Township Council, oversees MUA budgets, expenditures, and improvements along with other policy decisions. Daily operations are managed by our Executive Director.
Our service area includes most of Mount Laurel for wastewater services and a significant portion for water service (excluding the southwest region served by NJAWC). Some areas continue to use septic systems and private wells, which aren't under MUA authority.
We employ highly qualified, dedicated staff members who serve our customers with expertise. Our office managers and administrators each have at least 25 years of experience in their respective fields. Our Water and Sewer Department operators hold State licenses issued by NJDEP, requiring annual Continuing Education Credits to stay current with regulations and procedures.
Our customer service team is always available to assist with any questions. If you suspect your usage is higher than normal, our technicians can guide you through determining whether you might have a leak. The Mt. Laurel MUA is one of few organizations offering specific appointment times rather than time windows, prioritizing your convenience.
