1. How do I set up water services after moving into your district?

   You or your spouse must visit the District office in person to sign a "User Agreement" and provide a security deposit for your account. If you cannot come to the office, you may authorize someone else to sign on your behalf.

2. What should I do if I need to repair water pipes inside my home?

   All C-1 customers are required to have a functional shut-off valve on their main water line. This valve is typically located in the basement or utility closet. Simply turn off the valve before making your repairs.

3. Why is my water bill unusually high this month?

   Several factors could cause this, including: leaks in your service line, toilet leaks, dripping faucets, or outdoor hose taps that may be running.

4. How could a leaking toilet cost so much?

   A leaking toilet seal can waste up to 1,440 gallons per day or approximately 43,200 gallons per month!

5. Why is my water pressure abnormally low or high?

   The most likely cause is an issue with your Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV). When a PRV malfunctions, it can become stuck fully open or closed.

6. When are Board of Directors Meetings held?

   Our Board meets at 5:30 PM on the second Monday of each month at the District Office. These meetings are open to the public.

7. What's the best way to water my lawn?

   Water your lawn deeply a few times weekly rather than daily for best results. About an inch of water per week is recommended. Early morning watering helps avoid excessive evaporation.

8. Why does flushed water from hydrants look dirty if the water is safe?

   Most water pipes develop a thin film of rust and harmless microbes on their interior. Our regular flushing program ensures pipes remain clean. You'll notice the water clears after a few minutes of flushing.

9. Why are some water tanks elevated high above ground?

   Elevated storage ensures consistent water pressure for firefighting even during power outages. These tanks also provide additional water supply during peak usage hours and are refilled at night when demand is low.

10. How long can municipal water be stored?

    Water can be stored indefinitely in sealed plastic or glass containers, though taste may become flat after extended storage. We recommend replacing stored water every 6 months.

11. Should I use hot tap water for cooking or baby formula?

    No. Always use cold water. Hot water may contain higher levels of rust, copper, and lead from your plumbing and water heater, as these contaminants dissolve more quickly in hot water.

12. Does my Backflow Prevention Device require annual testing?

    Yes. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MoDNR Rule 10CSR60-11) mandates annual testing by a DNR Certified Tester, with results submitted to your Public Water Supplier. Most customers schedule testing when activating or winterizing their irrigation systems.
