Pompton Lakes Mua Municipal Water Company and EPAPompton Lakes Mua Municipal Water Report Info
Pompton Lakes embodies the essence of a vibrant waterway community. Our residents actively embrace outdoor living in this unique environment. The eastern border features Pompton Lake with its beautifully renovated shoreline along Lakeside Avenue, surrounded by lush waterfront properties and parkland. The 175-acre lake offers excellent boating and fishing opportunities, and even holds New Jersey state records for Black Crappie and Northern Pike catches.
Our water resources extend beyond this, with Twin Lake in the northwest section of the Borough, also lined with waterfront homes. Additionally, three active rivers flow throughout the borough, each with community access points.
Beyond our water features, Pompton Lakes boasts a charming downtown district with diverse dining experiences, rich arts and culture including live theater, and numerous boutique shops. This central hub serves as a community gathering place that's easily accessible by bike or on foot.
Though our borough spans just 3.2 square miles, our 11,000 residents demonstrate tremendous community spirit. Our public education system provides exceptional learning opportunities for children. In fact, Niche.com recently rated our schools with an overall grade of A, ranking fourth safest in the state, with the tenth best teachers among 383 New Jersey districts. Our public schools achieve a 95% graduation rate with average SAT scores of 1190. The athletic program features 22 male and female varsity teams with a tradition of excellence, earning eight class titles, four state championships and two county titles since 2014. It's no surprise that multiple generations choose to remain or return here to raise their families.
While Pompton Lakes maintains its quiet residential character, it offers convenient access to major highways. NJ Transit buses run from downtown to New York City and nearby transit centers for easy commuting.

Pompton Lakes Mua Municipal Water Company and CDCFrequently Asked Questions NSWC-emblem
-
Where do I send my water bill?
The North Shore Water Commission supplies water to Fox Point Village, Glendale City, Whitefish Bay Village, and portions of Mequon Water system. We don't directly bill residential, business, or commercial customers. Each municipality or wholesale customer handles their own billing. -
Can I have my water tested at the North Shore Water Commission?
We offer industry-standard testing for coliform bacteria, universally used to determine water safety. This test is commonly used for private well assessment. Contact us at (414) 963-0160 or email information@northshorewc.com for details.
Note: Recent regulation changes affect property sale testing requirements. If selling property, please use another laboratory. Contact Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene at (800) 224-6266 for guidance. -
Who do I contact regarding lead testing?
If concerned about lead in your home, please contact the North Shore Health Department at (414) 371-2980 for information and assistance. -
What are the advantages of UV disinfection?
UV technology uses ultraviolet light without introducing additional chemicals. Pathogens like cryptosporidium are immediately neutralized in the UV reactor. Compared to similar treatment technologies, UV disinfection offers the safest, most cost-effective solution. Unlike alternative methods, water temperature doesn't affect UV treatment effectiveness. -
How hard is my water?
Water hardness measures calcium and mineral content. NSWC water averages 137 mg/L hardness (expressed as mg/L calcium carbonate), approximately 8 gr/gal. This falls within the moderate range on the soft-to-hard scale.
