About Us
Water Delivery When You Need It! In 2017, USA-PA distributed 1.9 billion gallons of water to approximately 12,000 customer accounts. After treatment, water reaches customers through 95 miles of distribution mains.
The Perth Amboy water system encompasses 1,300 acres of watershed, wells, a treatment facility, transmission and distribution infrastructure, a storage tank with booster pumps, and a standpipe. The City sources its water from groundwater in the Runyon Well field located in Old Bridge, NJ – roughly nine miles south of Perth Amboy. These wells tap into the Old Bridge Aquifer.
Throughout 2017, Perth Amboy continued work on various 4-inch Water Main Projects. These multi-year initiatives involve replacing aging 4-inch mains, hydrants, valves, and customer service lines to improve system reliability.
Protecting Your Water Source (SWAP): The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has implemented a Source Water Assessment Program to evaluate potential threats to public water supplies statewide. The table below shows susceptibility ratings for each contaminant category for system sources. For information on purchased water susceptibility, please consult the specific water system's assessment report.
