About Us
The St. Marys municipal water system is owned and operated by the City of St. Marys. Their service headquarters is located at 418 Osborne Road in St. Marys, Georgia. For questions or feedback, please contact Wayne Broxton at the listed number, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
The City of St. Marys is committed to delivering clean, safe, and reliable water to our community. This report contains essential information about water sources, content analysis, and compliance with regulatory standards. It is submitted to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division and available upon request at City Hall or through the City's website: http://www.stmarysga.gov/department/public_works/document_center.PHP.
Our water comes from three community groundwater wells (Wells 102, 103, and 106) with a combined capacity of approximately 3.5 million gallons daily. These wells tap into the Upper Floridan Aquifer at depths of 800-1100 feet, providing sufficient water volume for our community. The wells are distributed throughout St. Marys, with necessary treatment occurring at each well site.
Well facilities are protected through a Wellhead Protection Plan (WHPP) which identifies potential contamination sources. The current WHPP indicates no potential pollution sources within fifteen-foot control zones. Within the 100-foot management zones, potential sources include access roads, electrical transformer equipment, utility poles, and underground/above-ground storage tanks. Updated protection plans are available at St. Marys City Hall.
