Sunrise Water Authority
About Us
The Sunrise Water Authority infrastructure encompasses over 240 kilometers of piping, 15,000 service connections with meters, and numerous fire hydrants, valves, backflow prevention systems, and pressure reducing stations.
Distribution mains vary from 6 to 8 inches in diameter, delivering water that enters through the transmission system. Water is pumped to 13 strategically placed reservoirs throughout Sunrise Water Authority's service territory at different elevations. The system operates on gravity, with water pressure generated by the elevation difference between reservoirs and usage points.
The transmission network consists of several 12 to 24-inch mains and 17 pump stations. Water regularly flows to Sunrise from the Clackamas River Water and North Clackamas County Water Commission treatment facilities on the Clackamas River. During peak demand periods, additional water comes from Sunrise Water Authority wells in the Damascus area.
Sunrise Water Authority is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners elected from the community. The service area spans approximately 21 square miles, including Happy Valley, Carver, portions of Damascus, and unincorporated Clackamas County areas.
The Board and staff strive to provide excellent value while constantly improving efficiency to maintain affordable rates. We take pride in our dedicated water professionals who prioritize customer service daily. Public participation in water-related decisions is welcomed at our monthly board meetings, held the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM at our Happy Valley headquarters. Visit our website for additional information, agendas, and meeting minutes.
