Ohio Water Utility Companies

The District is currently pursuing a loan and grant for a new infrastructure project estimated at six million dollars. We're aiming for a 50% grant with a 30-year, 0% interest loan for the remainder. This project will serve Meigs County's Chester Township, our most populated service area.

The improvements include 50,000 feet of new 10" and 12" water mains, a new water storage tank in the Five Points area, and replacing our aging pump station on Flatwoods Road. Unlike expansion projects, this initiative focuses on strengthening our existing infrastructure as our water system approaches 50 years of service.

Some existing pipelines will be abandoned while others will remain operational until future replacements are needed. The project also includes creating an interconnection with Leading Creek Conservancy District, providing mutual emergency support between our systems.

We're currently requesting permission from property owners along the planned route for installing new pipelines, while in some locations we'll use our existing easements.

Backup Power Systems
As a reminder to all customers, we've installed backup power at all of our facilities. You should never experience water outages during local power failures. We've implemented solar power at 12 locations where power consumption is low, making it the most efficient solution.

Thermal Expansion Issues
Thermal expansion tanks are essential for controlling pressure in closed, hot water systems. This issue has become so significant that we've updated our policy for new services—water won't be activated during inspection until this equipment is installed.

These tanks prevent water heater pressure relief valve activation, conserving energy and eliminating safety hazards. They also help prevent leaking faucets, water damage, appliance solenoid damage, toilet valve issues, and water hammer noise. Though required in every American home, many new constructions in our region lack them—please discuss this with your builder and plumber.
