Our 90th percentile value for lead is 8.67 µg/L. This measurement remains below the action level, so no immediate interventions are required beyond this consumer notice. Nevertheless, we're committed to ongoing monitoring, additional sampling, service improvements, and enhanced treatment procedures to exceed water quality standards.

What Does This Mean?
Under the Safe Drinking Water Act, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) established an action level for lead in tap water at 15 µg/L. This requires public water systems to ensure that water from consumer taps doesn't exceed this threshold in at least 90 percent of sampled locations. The action level represents a contaminant concentration that, when exceeded, triggers mandatory treatment protocols or other requirements.

Health Effects of Lead
Lead exposure through tap water can cause serious health complications. It can harm brain function, damage kidneys, and interfere with red blood cell production. Infants, young children, and pregnant women face the highest risk from lead exposure. Scientific research has linked childhood lead exposure to reduced IQ scores. Adults with kidney problems or hypertension may be more vulnerable than healthy adults. Lead accumulates in bones and can be released later, potentially affecting fetal brain development during pregnancy.

Health Screenings
Blood lead level testing is available through your healthcare provider, who can determine if testing is warranted and help interpret your results.
