California Water Utility Companies

Duarte receives its water supply exclusively from groundwater sources in the Main San Gabriel Basin. The only water treatment utilized is chlorine addition, which ensures proper disinfection and maintains bacteriological quality throughout the distribution network.

Water is distributed for residential, industrial, and commercial use across Duarte and Bradbury, along with portions of Azusa, Irwindale, Monrovia, and several unincorporated Los Angeles County areas.

NOTICE OF SOURCE WATER ASSESSMENT (SWA): An assessment of the Duarte water system's drinking water sources was completed in February 2003. No synthetic contaminants were detected in the groundwater sources. However, these sources may be vulnerable to activities including: historic waste dumps/landfills, chemical/petroleum processing, gas stations, mining operations, research labs, and animal feeding facilities.

The complete assessment is available for review at California American Water, 8657 Grand Avenue, Rosemead, CA 91770. For a summary, contact Shauna Racicot, Water Quality & Environmental Compliance Manager, at (619) 446-4768 or shauna.racicot@amwater.com.
