Municipal water, including bottled varieties, may contain small amounts of certain contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Water Hotline (800-426-4791).

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) has completed a Source Water Assessment, including Wellhead Protection Area mapping, potential contamination inventory, vulnerability assessment, and protection information. EPA regulations limit contaminant levels in public water systems to ensure safe drinking water. FDA regulations establish similar protections for bottled water. Water sources (tap and bottled) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and groundwater wells. As water travels across land or underground, it dissolves natural minerals and sometimes radioactive materials, and can pick up substances from animal or human activity.

North Platte uses surface water as its source. Potential contaminants include:

• Microbial contaminants from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
• Inorganic contaminants like salts and metals that occur naturally or result from urban runoff, wastewater discharge, oil/gas production, mining, or farming
• Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban runoff, and residential uses
• Organic chemical contaminants, including synthetic and volatile organic compounds from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, runoff, and septic systems
• Radioactive contaminants that occur naturally or result from oil/gas production and mining

Billing Division - Residential & Commercial Services

The City of Jackson Water Department manages both residential and commercial billing for city water system usage. Residential customers receive quarterly bills, while commercial accounts are billed monthly. Usage is measured through individual meters at each location.

Payment must be received by the 6th of each month to maintain uninterrupted service, as disconnection procedures typically begin on the 7th. For more details about our billing and disconnection policies, please visit our website.

E-Bills: The Water Department now offers electronic billing options. To receive your water/sewer bill via email, please contact us at 517-788-4082 with your name, address, and email information.

Online Bill Payments: Pay your water/sewer bill through the BS&A software portal, where you can view current bills, search past statements, and access billing information by address, account number, parcel number, or name.
