About Us
Important Health Information: While your municipal water meets government and state standards for arsenic, it contains low levels of this mineral. Current safety standards balance our understanding of arsenic's health effects against water treatment costs. The U.S. EPA continues researching lower arsenic concentrations, as this element is known to cause cancer at high levels and has been linked to skin damage and circulatory issues.
Certain populations may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than others. Those with compromised immune systems—including cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS, elderly individuals, and infants—should seek medical advice about their drinking water. The U.S. EPA/CDC guidelines on reducing infection risks from Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available through the Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (800) 426-4791 or at http://water.epa.gov/drink/hotline.
