About our region: The City of Tumwater sits at the mouth of the Deschutes River, where it cascades to its final destination at Puget Sound's southern tip. The rugged Olympic Mountains rise in the distance, with Mount Rainier appearing within reach on clear days. Strategically located at the intersection of Interstate 5 and Highway 101, Tumwater serves as the southern gateway to Puget Sound's metropolitan corridor spanning Thurston, Pierce, King, and Snohomish counties, including Tacoma and Seattle.
