About Us
This Water Quality Report outlines the City of Williamsburg's water sources, treatment processes, and comprehensive laboratory testing results on treated water. It also explains potential health risks that the treatments are designed to mitigate.
The 2018 Water Quality Table on page 5 highlights substances detected for which the Health Department and USEPA have established Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs), Treatment Techniques, or Action Levels. This represents just a small portion of the extensive testing conducted throughout 2018.
The City's water undergoes testing for numerous additional compounds during the year, with testing frequencies ranging from continuous monitoring to once every nine years. When testing occurred in years other than 2018, that year is clearly noted in the table.
The 2018 test results confirm that Williamsburg's water meets all Virginia Department of Health and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, with no violations of state or federal standards. We encourage you to review this report and welcome questions - please contact the City's Public Works and Utilities Department for more information. Printed copies are available at 401 Lafayette Street and online at www.williamsburgva.gov/wqr.
