About Us
Our Water Source Information: The City of Milton utilizes groundwater aquifers as our primary water source. We have several wells positioned strategically throughout the region. Wells #3, #10, and #12 are located within the Redondo/Milton Aquifer, while Well #5 draws from the Edgewood/Eastern Upland Aquifer.
The Corridor Wells (#1 and #2) also tap into the Redondo/Milton Aquifer and began operation in 2008. In November 2009, testing revealed elevated iron and manganese levels. Though these are secondary contaminants without direct health risks, we constructed an iron and manganese filtration facility that became operational in October 2011 to maintain levels below maximum contaminant thresholds.
Aquifers are natural underground reservoirs that store vast quantities of groundwater within rock, gravel, and sand layers. These resources are naturally replenished as precipitation gradually filters through soil layers. After extraction, we treat the water to optimize pH levels and add disinfectant to guard against microbial contamination.
Milton maintains two emergency interties: one with Mt. View-Edgewood Water Company near Milton's Edgewood border for seasonal use (sourced entirely from groundwater), and an emergency connection with Lakehaven Water and Sewer District along Pacific Highway East (using both surface and groundwater sources). For additional water quality information, please visit Mt. View-Edgewood (www.mtvewater.com) and Lakehaven Utility (www.lakehaven.org) websites.
