On May 9, 2016, California Governor Jerry Brown issued an Executive Order permanently prohibiting wasteful water practices. These include: barring the hosing of sidewalks and driveways, requiring shut-off nozzles for vehicle washing, prohibiting decorative fountains without recirculation systems, preventing excess landscape runoff, prohibiting irrigation within 48 hours after rainfall, and banning potable water irrigation of public street medians.

1. How do I request a final bill when selling my property or when a tenant moves out?
   If the meter is inside the home, contact Customer Service with the reading on your closing date or tenant move-out date. For exterior meters, please request a meter reading work order through Customer Service.
2. How can I check my current account balance?
   Contact our Customer Service Center with your account number or address for immediate assistance. You can also access your balance and make payments through our online bill payment center.
3. Why was my last bill unusually high?
   Common causes include leaking toilets, irrigation system leaks, or water softener issues. Consider consulting a plumber to check for leaks. If you don't suspect a leak, contact Customer Service to discuss your bill concerns.
4. How can I get my annual water and sewer payment history for tax purposes?
   Contact Customer Service for your account history. Please consult your tax advisor regarding potential deductions.
5. What causes rusty or strong-smelling water?
   Occasionally, iron (causing rusty appearance) or sulfur (causing odors) may be present in water. We actively monitor, treat, and flush our lines to minimize these issues. Unplanned events like water main breaks or hydrant openings can temporarily increase these elements. Running your tap until the water clears often resolves the issue.
6. Why does my water smell like chlorine?
   We use chlorine disinfectant as required by EPA regulations to kill harmful bacteria and viruses as water travels to your tap. Our operators continuously monitor chlorine levels to ensure safety. The small amounts present in your water are not harmful.
7. How can I verify if someone is a legitimate service operator from your company?
   All employees, including meter readers, carry company ID badges showing both the company name and employee name. For your safety, if you're uncertain about someone's identity, contact Customer Service with the employee's name and your location for verification.
8. What should I do about low water pressure?
   Most faucet issues relate to clogged aerator screens. Try unscrewing the aerator and cleaning the screen to restore flow. Replacement screens are available at hardware stores. If the problem persists or affects multiple faucets, contact Customer Service.
