Water Resources Overview

Municipal water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land or through the ground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals and, in some cases, radioactive materials. It can also pick up substances resulting from animal presence or human activity.

  • Radioactive contaminants that may be naturally occurring or result from oil/gas production and mining

Lead Information

Elevated lead levels can cause serious health problems, particularly for pregnant women and young children. Lead in municipal water primarily comes from materials in service lines and home plumbing. While we provide quality water, we cannot control plumbing component materials. To minimize lead exposure, flush your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. All Municipal Water Contains Some Contaminants

Even when water meets federal standards, there may be no health advantages to purchasing bottled water or point-of-use devices. Special Notice for Vulnerable Populations

Some people may be more vulnerable to certain contaminants than the general population.
