About Us
The 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) requires water utilities to produce yearly water quality reports detailing testing outcomes. The results on the previous page show Nob Hill's water testing by an independent certified laboratory.
The SDWA authorizes the Environmental Protection Agency to establish national water standards, which in Washington State are managed by the State Department of Health. These standards fall into two categories:
- PRIMARY standards protect public health
- SECONDARY standards address aesthetic qualities like appearance, taste, odor and color
All water sources, including bottled water, naturally contain some contaminants. The presence of these substances doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk.
