Since 1990, Orange County has operated under a "strong mayor" charter government structure, reflecting the region's urban character and dynamic economy. In this system, the Orange County Mayor serves as both CEO and Chair of the Board of County Commissioners (BCC). The six BCC members are independently elected from distinct districts and function in a legislative capacity.

The Mayor oversees all County operations, managing over 7,500 employees and a $4.4 billion budget. This leadership role includes responsibility for critical public safety services for both our 481,052 residents and more than 72 million annual visitors, as well as budget allocations for the Orange County Public Library System, Sheriff's Office, and other constitutional officers.
