About Us
In 2017, Orange County Programs Water Division provided quality water to over 150,329 accounts, serving more than 481,052 residents. Our operations produced 23.1 million gallons of water daily through 3 main facilities and 8 remote locations. This water travels through 1,868 miles of water mains across our 451 square mile service area.
Our water comes from the Floridan Aquifer, a vast freshwater reservoir beneath Orange County. This natural groundwater source maintains excellent quality and supplies not only our system but others throughout the region. The water undergoes natural filtration as rainwater passes through hundreds of feet of sand and rock layers. Due to its naturally high quality, our groundwater requires minimal treatment beyond disinfection and aeration to remove hydrogen sulfide.

Since 1990, Orange County has operated under a "strong mayor" charter government structure, reflecting the region's urban character and dynamic economy. In this system, the Orange County Mayor serves as both CEO and Chair of the Board of County Commissioners (BCC). The six BCC members are independently elected from distinct districts and function in a legislative capacity.
The Mayor oversees all County operations, managing over 7,500 employees and a $4.4 billion budget. This leadership role includes responsibility for critical public safety services for both our 481,052 residents and more than 72 million annual visitors, as well as budget allocations for the Orange County Public Library System, Sheriff's Office, and other constitutional officers.
Orange County boasts world-class amenities including our international airport, the second-largest convention center in the U.S., premier theme parks, and diverse entertainment options. The county features outstanding public venues like the Amway Center (home to the NBA's Orlando Magic), the acclaimed Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, the newly-renovated Camping World Stadium, and a state-of-the-art Major League Soccer stadium hosting Orlando City Soccer and Orlando Pride.
County employees embrace a "neighbors helping neighbors" philosophy, with core values of fairness, integrity, character, excellence, innovation, professionalism and accountability forming the foundation of our exceptional customer service to residents and visitors alike.
