About Us
Orange Town Utilities (OCU) stands as a champion of natural resource conservation. The community takes pride in protecting its valuable resources, including Blue Spring, through comprehensive water management while prioritizing public health.
In 2016, OCU launched significant water quality enhancement initiatives, including:
- Installation of new water mains, valves, and fire hydrants
- Development of a new potable water well
- Rehabilitation of aging water infrastructure
- Upgrades to water treatment facilities
Currently, pipe rehabilitation and looping projects are 65% complete. The new well remains under construction awaiting final development, while water treatment plant improvements are scheduled for completion by December 2018. For more information about Water Resources and upcoming projects, visit: http://www.ourorangecity.com/quick-links/water-resources.
OCU provides this Annual Water Quality Report to help customers understand our ongoing efforts to maintain and improve water treatment processes while safeguarding Orange City's precious water resources. Our water system delivers safe, clean water to approximately 11,850 residents, with a daily average consumption of 1.85 million gallons. Ensuring every drop meets safety standards remains our top priority.
OCU continuously tests water at our treatment facilities and throughout the distribution system. Tap water remains safe for consumption, with home filtration being a personal preference. Your water undergoes regular testing for bacteria and contaminants of concern annually. The City proudly meets all regulatory requirements under the Safe Drinking Water Act.
OCU treats groundwater drawn from the Floridan Aquifer. Our treatment process involves oxygenation and chlorine disinfection. This report presents water quality results from January 1 to December 31, 2017, though some data from before January 2017 represents the most recent testing required by regulations.
As a municipally-owned utility governed by Orange City Council, meetings take place at City Hall (201 N Holly Ave, Orange City, FL) on the second and fourth Tuesday monthly. Additional information is available at www.OurOrangeCity.com, or contact the Water Plant Office at 386-775-5442 or jappel@ourorangecity.com. For service and billing inquiries: (386) 775-5444.
