The City of Park Ridge is dedicated to providing high-quality municipal water to its residents. We continuously work to meet emerging regulations, protect source water quality, promote conservation, and engage in community education while meeting the needs of all water users.

Previously, this report was mailed separately, but now it's included with your water bill. As in past years, our tap water met nearly all EPA and Illinois health standards. This report summarizes last year's water quality, including information about water sources, composition, and regulatory compliance.

For questions about this report or our water system, please contact Jesse Mann, Supervisor of Water Distribution, at (1-847-318-5251). We welcome your participation in our public forum to discuss water concerns. The City Council meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Monday monthly at City Hall, 505 Butler Place.

Park Ridge purchases all water from the City of Chicago, sourced from Lake Michigan. This water undergoes treatment at Chicago's Jardine Filtration Plant near Navy Pier—one of the world's largest and most advanced facilities—before being pumped into Park Ridge's distribution system and into your home.

IMPORTANT HEALTH INFORMATION
All water, including bottled varieties, may contain small amounts of certain contaminants. This doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, call the USEPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (1-800-426-4791).

Certain populations may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than others. Immunocompromised individuals (cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS or other immune disorders), some elderly, and infants may face increased risks. These individuals should seek advice from healthcare providers regarding drinking water safety. USEPA/CDC guidelines on reducing infection risk from Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available through the Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (1-800-426-4791).

LEAD AND DRINKING WATER
Elevated lead levels can cause serious health problems, particularly for pregnant women and young children. Lead in municipal water primarily comes from materials in service lines and home plumbing. While Park Ridge provides quality water, we cannot control the materials used in plumbing components. When water sits unused for several hours, you can minimize lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to two minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. If concerned about lead, consider having your water tested. Information about lead in water, testing methods, and exposure reduction is available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (1-800-426-4791) or at http://water.epa.gov/drink/info/lead.
