Seabrook Water Department
About Us
As a trusted public water provider, our core mission is to deliver premium-quality municipal water and dependable service at reasonable rates. We face ongoing challenges with aging infrastructure that affect water safety, requiring continuous upgrades to maintain quality standards for present and future generations.
In the previous year, our department completed several critical projects including:
- Cleaning and redeveloping Pea gravel Packed Well Number 4
- Maintenance of Rockwell No. 3
- Installation of an 8-inch water main on Anne's Lane
- Implementation of a two-year groundwater monitoring program providing guidance for water ban decisions
- Continuation of our systematic hydrant inspection program
At the town's request, the NHDES approved reclassification of our delineated wellhead protection area to GAA status - the highest protection classification available. With support from neighboring Villages of Hampton Comes and South Hampton, our GAA classification now encompasses wellhead protection areas across Seabrook, Hampton Falls and South Hampton.
These improvements, along with routine operation and maintenance expenses, are funded through user rates and the local tax base. When considering the essential role water plays in our lives, municipal water service represents an exceptional value - safeguarding public health, supporting fire protection, sustaining businesses, and enhancing our quality of life.
The Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) provides detailed information about your water quality, its source, and additional resources. This annual document records all detected primary and secondary water parameters and compares them to Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs) established by regulatory authorities.

Welcome to Seabrook, New Hampshire's southern gateway to the Granite State. Our community serves as the heart of New England, connecting Northern New England's natural resources and recreational areas with Southern New England's historic commercial centers. Settled in 1638, Seabrook was named for the numerous brooks flowing through its extensive salt marshes to the Atlantic Ocean.
Early residents primarily engaged in farming and fishing industries. Many current residents trace their ancestry to the first Quaker settlers who established our community's distinctive small-town character that persists today.
Seabrook offers numerous advantages for visitors and residents alike. We're conveniently located just 36 miles from Greater Boston, 20 minutes from a deep-water port, and an hour's drive from the White Mountains and New Hampshire's pristine lakes.
Our business-friendly environment with low taxes has attracted over 250 industrial, commercial and retail companies spanning various economic sectors. Major employers include New Hampshire's only nuclear power facility (Seabrook Station), Yankee Greyhound Racing, Market Basket, Wal-Mart, Dinsmore (communications), Teledyne (electrical connectors), and numerous retail establishments serving everyday shopping needs.
Our active seacoast features miles of clean beaches and a thriving harbor business district. The harbor hosts the Yankee Fisherman's Cooperative with a working fishing fleet regularly bringing in fresh catches of fish and lobster. Most of our beach areas are residential, featuring year-round homes, summer residences, and seasonal rental properties.
Community activities abound in Seabrook. Attractions include Seabrook Station's Science and Nature Center and the Owascoag Nature Center with its one-mile tour through preserved forest and salt marsh habitats. The Seabrook Community Center provides programs for all ages from preschoolers to seniors, including tennis lessons, dances, sporting events, exercise activities, and recreation camps. The center features a full-size gymnasium and weight room.
