Important Information for Homeowners

  1. Contact the Water Company before any excavation on your property. We'll mark your water lines to prevent pipe damage. Depending on the work scope, you may need to contact Dig-Safe.
  2. Before resurfacing your driveway, check if your water shutoff is located there. If it's paved over, we may not be able to access it during emergencies. We can arrange to elevate it if needed.
  3. If finishing your basement, remember that access to your water meter and main shutoff valve is essential for emergencies. Never wall in these components.
  4. Call us if you're redoing siding or shingles and need your outdoor water meter register moved or removed.

Fire Hydrant Accessibility
We request your assistance maintaining access to fire hydrants for everyone's safety. Hydrants can be buried by snow in winter or obscured by overgrown vegetation in summer. If a hydrant is near your home, please help keep it visible for emergency services. Fire hydrants require a three-foot clear radius measured from the stem center. Report any damaged hydrants to us promptly. Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 148 Section 27B prohibits burying fire hydrants and sets a $100.00 fine.

Frequently Asked Questions
