About Us
Our water meets all EPA health standards. We've conducted extensive testing for over 80 potential contaminants in municipal water, with only eleven detected as shown in our report charts.
Your surface water comes from the City of Alcoa and Knox-Chapman Utility District. We're committed to protecting our water sources from contamination and work closely with the State to assess vulnerability risks.
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) has completed a Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP) Report for our untreated water resources. This assessment rates water sources as highly, moderately, or slightly vulnerable based on geological factors and human activities near the source. Tuckaleechee Utility District sources are rated as moderately vulnerable to potential contamination.
To ensure safe municipal water, we treat and regularly test our supply. For complete information about Tennessee's Source Water Assessment Program, view summaries, vulnerability ratings, and TDEC's EPA report at https://www.Tn.Gov/environment/article/wr-wq-source-water-evaluation or contact us directly for specific test documentation.

Established in 1959, Tuckaleechee Utility District now serves over 4,200 water customers across portions of Blount and Sevier counties. The state requires a minimum water pressure of 20 psi at all meters.
All customers must install Pressure Reducer Valves. Individual booster pumps require "low suction" or "low pressure" cutoff mechanisms to prevent damage during water outages. All backflow devices undergo annual testing/inspection, with commercial accounts mandated to install and maintain these devices.
Tennessee law requires notification before any digging, excavation, earth moving, demolition, or activity that might damage underground utility lines. Contact Tennessee One Call at 1-800-351-1111 or dial 811 at least three business days before work begins. This free service notifies TUD and other utility providers who will mark their facilities at your excavation site with paint or flags. There's no charge for Tennessee One Call services or for TUD to locate its underground infrastructure.
