About Us
Is my tap water safe? Yes, our water meets most EPA health standards. We conduct extensive testing for over 95 potential contaminants in municipal water supplies. We also perform daily monitoring, including microbiological tests for quality control.
What's the source of my water? Your water comes from Sycamore Creek, a surface water source. At our Water Treatment Plant on 1199 Floyd Hudgens Rd, we work to protect water from contaminants. We collaborate with state authorities to assess vulnerability of water supplies.
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) has prepared a Source Water Assessment Plan (SWAP) Report for water supplies serving this system. The SWAP evaluates public water supplies' susceptibility to contamination. Water sources are rated as reasonably susceptible, moderately susceptible, or slightly susceptible based on geological factors and human activities near the source. Pleasant View Utility District's source is rated slightly susceptible to potential contamination.
Tennessee's Source Water Assessment Plan details, summaries, susceptibility scores and the TDEC report to EPA are available online at https://www.tn.gov/environment/program-areas/wr-waterresources/water-quality/source-water-assessment.html or call Pleasant View Utility District or TDEC at 1-888-891-TDEC for assessment copies.
Why are there contaminants in my water? Municipal water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain at least small amounts of certain contaminants. Public water systems must disclose contaminant detection, though bottled water companies aren't required to comply with this regulation. Contaminants' presence doesn't necessarily indicate health risks. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, call EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791). For water quality questions, contact John Smith at 615-792-9940. Este informe conlleva información importante sobre su agua tolerable.
