The Municipal Authority was established in 1946 by the Upper Southampton Board of Supervisors to provide safe and reliable water service throughout Upper Southampton Township. The Municipal Water Distribution System encompasses approximately 80 miles of water mains ranging from 6 to 16 inches in diameter.
Currently, the Authority maintains 430 fire hydrants across the township. Water is supplied through an interconnection with Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority along with three municipal wells. The system delivers an average daily flow of 1.2 million gallons with three one-million-gallon storage tanks maintaining reserve capacity. The Municipal Authority proudly serves 4,790 customers throughout the community.
The Sewer Authority was formed in 1960 by the Upper Southampton Board of Supervisors to manage wastewater services. This system consists of roughly 90 miles of sewer mains supported by two lift stations and two pumping stations. The Authority maintains agreements with neighboring municipalities to transport wastewater through Lower Southampton to Philadelphia's Northeast Treatment Plant. The Sewer Authority currently serves 5,505 customers in Upper Southampton Township.
In July 2011, the Water and Sewer Authorities merged to become the Upper Southampton Municipal Authority, consolidating resources and services to better serve township residents.
