Vera Water & Power
About Us
In 2017, Vera Water and Power delivered 3.37 billion gallons of water to local residents. Of this total volume, the utility reported a 10.1% water leakage rate, which exceeds the State Water Use Efficiency Rule requirement of maintaining losses below 10% for three consecutive years.
Vera actively works to minimize water waste through an aggressive leak detection program and strict hydrant usage metering protocols. Water losses also occur during construction activities and accidental line damage. The utility prioritizes immediate repair of leaks and construction-related damages to conserve our precious water resources.
Our primary mission is to ensure a sustainable supply of safe, reliable municipal water for future generations. The Washington State Department of Health enforces mandatory health standards for public water systems. Our supply undergoes hundreds of tests for contaminants, chemicals, metals, and compounds to guarantee safety. We're pleased to report that in most instances, our municipal water exceeded safety requirements with exceptional results.

Our current storage capacity reaches about 7.1 million gallons. The pumping infrastructure delivers approximately 3,500 gallons per minute (gpm) with a water right of 2,800 gpm. Additionally, Summit Water has access to 1,390 gpm through a wholesale agreement with Lakewood Water. We're currently negotiating with Lakewood Water to secure an additional 1.0 million gallons per day (MGD), which would boost our wholesale flow to approximately 2,100 gpm or 3.0 MGD.
