About Us
Your municipal water comes from the Piney River, Turnbull Creek, or the Cumberland River. Our mission is to safeguard these water sources from contamination, working alongside the State to evaluate vulnerability factors.
WADC collaborates with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) to implement the Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP), which assesses untreated water supplies serving our system. All public water systems treat and regularly test their water to ensure safety.
Water resources are classified as moderately, fairly, or slightly vulnerable based on geological factors and human activities near the water supply. The WADC system has been rated as moderately vulnerable to potential contamination.
Details about Tennessee's SWAP, assessment summaries, vulnerability rankings, and the complete TDEC report are available at http://tn.Gov/environment/dws/dwassess.Shtml. You can also review source water assessments during regular business hours at WADC's Dickson Water Treatment Plant at 206 West Chestnut Street.
We're pleased to confirm your tap water meets all safety standards. Water from the Water Authority of Dickson County (WADC) satisfies all Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) health requirements. In 2017, we conducted tests for over 80 potential contaminants. As shown in our report, only 10 contaminants were detected, all at levels deemed safe by the EPA.
State and EPA regulations require regular testing and reporting to maintain quality standards. WADC consistently meets these requirements, as we're committed to maintaining and improving your water quality—our families drink it too.
