The Roaring Creek facility stands as one of only 15 water treatment plants in Pennsylvania to receive the prestigious President's Award, recognizing its exceptional individual filter performance standards. This facility underwent rigorous evaluation against strict quality benchmarks through the Partnership for Safe Water's Treatment Plant Optimization Program.
The program aims to help utilities evaluate treatment performance, enhance operational procedures to minimize contamination risks from pathogens like Cryptosporidium, and achieve superior water quality beyond regulatory requirements. "Receiving recognition from the Partnership for Safe Water highlights our dedication to water quality excellence," said Roaring Creek Superintendent Rich Kotwica. "We continuously strive to maintain exceptional quality standards while improving our operations for customer benefit. This recognition confirms our diligence is producing results."
"I'm extremely proud of our Roaring Creek Division treatment team who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in enhancing water quality and meeting the rigorous President's Award standards," stated Aqua Pennsylvania President Marc Lucca. The Partnership for Safe Water includes over 250 water utilities collectively serving more than 100 million people. Each participating utility has committed to enhancing drinking water quality and operational excellence in treatment processes. The Partnership represents a collaboration between the American Water Works Association, Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies, Association of State Drinking Water Administrators, US Environmental Protection Agency, and the National Association of Water Companies.
