New Jersey Water Utility Companies

The Bayonne Municipal Utilities Authority (BMUA) acknowledges recent taste and odor concerns reported by Bayonne residents. We want to assure all customers that our water meets all safety standards for municipal supply. The water remains completely safe for drinking, cooking, and bathing – no boiling is necessary.

During extended warm, dry summer periods, elevated water temperatures can cause increased algae growth, resulting in earthy tastes and odors. Additionally, naturally occurring minerals may cause occasional water discoloration. We understand these issues inconvenience residents and impact the water quality you've come to expect.

The North Jersey District Water Commission has enhanced treatment protocols to address these naturally occurring issues. Water quality should return to normal within several days. Both Bayonne MUA and Combined Water Bayonne remain fully committed to delivering high-quality water service to all Bayonne residents.

Bayonne Municipal Utilities Authority Municipal Water Report Info

Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), New Jersey's largest utility provider, has issued an important alert for customers regarding scam activity. Residents should remain vigilant about individuals posing as utility employees or those demanding immediate payment for services.

Law enforcement agencies across the tristate area report increasing scam incidents targeting utility customers. According to Federal Trade Commission data, impostor scams and debt collection scams rank as New Jersey's most common fraudulent activities. Last year, over 20,000 state residents reported scams resulting in losses exceeding $25 million.

PSE&G recorded more than 300 scam reports in 2018 – representing a 25 percent increase from 2017. The company strongly advises business customers to be wary of demands for immediate payment, and urges residential customers to verify identification before allowing utility workers into their homes. Anyone with suspicions should call customer service at 1-800-436-7734 to confirm worker identity. Legitimate PSE&G employees carry proper identification and typically arrive in company-marked vehicles.
