Founded in 1833, Jarvis J. Green initially wanted to name his settlement "Pontiac" after his Michigan hometown. When rejected by postal authorities, he selected another Michigan town name - "Saginaw". The community transformed significantly during the late 1800s when the railroad established Saginaw as its final southbound stop to Fort Worth.

Saginaw flourished as transportation-dependent industries like grain storage and milling facilities relocated near the railway. Today, Saginaw houses the world's largest grain storage facility! Burrus Mills (now Cargill, Inc.) launched the western swing band "The Lightcrust Dough Boys." The railroad maintains active operations with piggyback switching, freight services, and railcar repair facilities, while grain mills operate continuously.

Currently among North Texas's fastest-growing communities, Saginaw is recognized for its small-town atmosphere with big-city amenities and excellent public education system.
