Dade County Water Authority
About Us
Dade County Water and Sewer Authority delivers surface freshwater to customers drawn from Lookout Creek, with supplemental groundwater from a well at the water treatment facility. Both water sources are shown on the regional map.
After collection from the creek or well, water travels to the treatment plant on Highway 136 where it undergoes a multi-stage purification process. First, alum is added to coagulate fine particles and impurities, causing them to settle in the basins. The clarified water then passes through filtration systems and receives chlorine disinfection to ensure safety for consumption.
The treatment process includes adding lime to adjust pH levels, preventing pipe corrosion throughout the distribution system. Fluoride is also incorporated to promote dental health before the finished water reaches consumers.
The Authority operates under the guidance of a Board of Directors appointed by the Dade County Commission. Monthly public meetings occur at 8 a.m. on the third Friday at the Dade County Administration Building (71 Case Avenue, Trenton, GA 30752). The office maintains regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For customer service, call 706-657-4341, or for emergencies, 706-657-6097.
