Florida Water Utility Companies

Our system extracts groundwater from the Lower Hawthorne aquifer through five production wells approximately 750 feet deep. We utilize Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology to eliminate naturally occurring impurities in our water supply.

The primary contaminants we address are chlorides and total dissolved solids (TDS). According to a 1998 water quality study by Boyle Architectural, Inc., Greater Pine Island Water Association provides excellent potable water quality to our community.

For disinfection purposes, we add chlorine before storing water for distribution, ensuring quality when it reaches your tap. In 2016, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection conducted a Source Water Evaluation of our system, identifying eight potential contamination sources with low to moderate susceptibility levels.

In 2016, we distributed approximately 467 million gallons of water to our customers. We continually upgrade distribution lines, plant capacities, and delivery methods. As a community service, our Board of Directors installs fire hydrants on all newly upgraded lines.

We're proud to report that in all required lead and copper sampling years (1994, 1995, 1998, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016), no samples exceeded maximum contaminant levels. To further protect our members, we add a corrosion inhibitor that helps safeguard your home's copper piping and metal fixtures.
