About Us
Surface water from rivers and open reservoirs typically contains sediment, organic material, and trace contaminants. When this water reaches the treatment facility, it undergoes thorough analysis and processing to ensure it's completely safe for consumption.
Standard water treatment involves four key stages: coagulation/flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. The final disinfection step eliminates harmful pathogens and microbiological contaminants present in source water, typically using chemical disinfectants.
Each disinfection method has pros and cons. Chlorine remains popular due to its affordability and availability, plus its effectiveness in treating surface water. The EPA sets strict standards for water treatment processes and disinfection byproducts to protect public health. Our suppliers have identified several disinfection byproducts resulting from necessary water treatment protocols.

Our History
Rincon Del Diablo Municipal Water District (Rincon Water) is situated in northern San Diego County within the Escondido Valley region. The district encompasses a designated water district, two water development districts, and a fire district. The name derives from Rancho Rincon del Diablo, historically located in this area. In 1843, this land wasn't under Mission San Diego de Alcala's jurisdiction, earning it the Spanish nickname "the devil's corner" or "the devil's lurking place."
Today, Rincon Water serves customers across Escondido, San Marcos, San Diego, and various unincorporated areas of San Diego County. The utility supplies potable and recycled water to approximately 30,000 residents through nearly 8,000 connections spanning residential, agricultural, landscape, and commercial sectors. In 2018, Rincon Water expanded to provide sewer services for the Harmony Grove Village area in unincorporated San Diego County.
Our Mission Statement
Rincon Water exists to reliably deliver quality water meeting the needs of residents, communities, municipalities, and fire response services. We execute this civic responsibility professionally, continuously striving to improve customer value.
