We are pleased to present this year's Annual Municipal Water Quality Report. This document aims to inform you about the quality water and services we deliver to your home daily.

Our water comes from three wells drawing from the Englishtown Aquifer (approximately 700 feet deep) and purchased water from the New Jersey Water Supply Authority's Manasquan Reservoir Water Supply System. The Manasquan Water Treatment Plant, located on Hospital Road in Wall Township's Allenwood section, is owned by the Monmouth County Improvement Authority and operated by the New Jersey Water Supply Authority. This facility sources water from both the Manasquan River in Wall Township and the Manasquan Reservoir in Howell Township.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has completed a Source Water Assessment Report for our water system, available at WWW.Nation.Nj.Us/dep/swap or by contacting NJDEP's Bureau of Safe Drinking Water at (609) 292-5550. This report includes source water susceptibility scores and potential contaminant sources.

Some individuals may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than the general population. Those with compromised immune systems—including cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, HIV/AIDS patients, elderly individuals, and infants—should seek advice from healthcare providers about their drinking water. Guidelines on reducing infection risk from Cryptosporidium and other microbiological contaminants are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).

Spring Lake Borough Water and Sewer Utility and the Manasquan Water Supply System continuously monitor your water according to Federal and State regulations. The accompanying table shows monitoring results from January 1st to December 31st, 2016. Some contaminants are monitored less frequently as their concentrations rarely change, so some data may be from previous years while remaining representative.

Spring Lake Water Department Municipal Water Report Information

The Water Resources Department plays a vital role in providing Spring Lake's residents with exceptional services related to all water operations, including fresh water, wastewater, and stormwater management. Our wastewater services encompass maintenance and operation of the collection system, treatment plant, treated effluent disposal, and land application of removed residuals.

We consistently meet and will continue to satisfy the standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the State of North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Our department consists of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Water Operations divisions.

Stormwater issues are addressed through system cleaning and inspection, ensuring all new construction meets Phase II guidelines. The Stormwater division also coordinates the Annual Hazardous Waste collection and supports local initiatives to maintain clean gutters and drains. This division handles diverse responsibilities from education and prevention to inspection and remediation.

The Water/Sewer Operations division functions both proactively and reactively. It performs preventive infrastructure maintenance while also responding to water and sewer emergencies. This division manages both wastewater and fresh water systems, maintaining mains and services that deliver safe drinking water meeting all EPA and State of North Carolina standards.

For more detailed information, residents can access our Annual Water and Wastewater Performance Reports, which provide snapshots of Spring Lake's water quality. The Water Resources Department actively serves the community through preventive maintenance and special events throughout the year, including the Annual Household Hazardous Waste Pick-up.
