California Water Utility Companies

The primary water source for this utility is surface water from Lake Berryessa. Water travels through the Putah South Canal to the Cement Hill Water Treatment Plant where it undergoes thorough treatment to meet safety standards before distribution.

Our distribution infrastructure includes four above-ground steel storage tanks with a combined capacity of 6.5 million gallons. The Cement Hill facility is equipped with emergency diesel generators to ensure continuous operation during power outages.

The treatment plant can process up to 10 million gallons daily through three clarifiers that handle coagulation, flocculation, and sedimentation, followed by ten dual media pressure filters. Chemical additives assist with these processes, and chlorine is added to meet regulatory requirements.

Municipal water is highly regulated under Federal EPA and California Division of Municipal Water guidelines. Our staff maintains high-level Operator Certifications with ongoing education on advancements in Distribution and Treatment. We provide 24/7/365 service availability and welcome customer questions about water quality, leak reporting, or conservation initiatives.

Water sources (both tap and bottled) may include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves natural minerals and can pick up substances from animal or human activity, including:

  • Microbial contaminants from sewage plants, septic systems, livestock, and wildlife
  • Inorganic contaminants like salts and metals from natural sources or urban runoff
  • Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture and residential use
  • Organic chemicals from industrial processes and petroleum production
  • Radioactive contaminants from natural sources or oil and gas production

EPA and California Department of Public Health regulations limit contaminant levels in public water systems. While tap water may contain small amounts of some contaminants, this doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. Immunocompromised individuals, cancer patients, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS, elderly persons, and infants may be particularly vulnerable and should consult healthcare providers about their water consumption.
