About Us
We are pleased to present our Annual Water Quality Report for 2017. This document aims to inform you about the quality of water we provide daily to your homes and businesses.
Our constant goal is to deliver safe, reliable water to all residents. We want you to understand our ongoing efforts to enhance water treatment processes and protect our valuable water resources. We remain committed to ensuring the highest quality of your water.
Water sources (both tap and bottled) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves naturally occurring minerals and, in some cases, radioactive materials, and may pick up substances from animal presence or human activity.
To ensure tap water safety, the EPA establishes regulations limiting contaminant levels in public water systems. FDA regulations set similar limits for bottled water to provide equivalent public health protection. We encourage our valued customers to stay informed about their water utility. For questions about this report, to attend scheduled meetings, or to learn more about your water supply, please contact HUBERT FAULK at 337-898-8345.
If present, elevated lead levels can pose serious health risks, particularly for pregnant women and young children. Lead in water primarily comes from materials associated with service lines and home plumbing. While VERMILION PARISH WATERWORKS DISTRICT #1 provides high-quality water, we cannot control the materials used in plumbing components. When water sits unused for several hours, you can reduce potential lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking.
