About Us
Municipal water, including bottled varieties, typically contains trace amounts of various contaminants. This presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health hazard. For detailed information about contaminants and potential health impacts, contact the USEPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791 or visit http://www.epa.gov.
Certain populations may have heightened vulnerability to water contaminants compared to the general public. Those with compromised immune systems—including cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, individuals with HIV/AIDS or other immune disorders, some elderly persons, and infants—may face increased risks from infections. These individuals should consult healthcare providers regarding their water consumption.
Guidelines from USEPA and CDC on minimizing infection risks from Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available through the USEPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.
Nitrate levels exceeding 10 mg/L pose health risks, particularly for infants under six months, potentially causing "Blue-Baby Syndrome" by inhibiting oxygen transport in the bloodstream. Pregnant women and those with specific enzyme deficiencies should also exercise caution with elevated nitrate levels. Consult healthcare providers if caring for infants or during pregnancy.
Elevated lead levels can cause serious health issues, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead primarily enters drinking water through service lines and home plumbing materials. JCSD provides quality water but cannot control plumbing components in homes. After water sits in pipes for several hours, flushing taps for 30-120 seconds before use can reduce lead exposure. For concerns, consider water testing. More information is available at 1-800-426-4791 or http://www.epa.gov/lead.
Fluoride occurs naturally; JCSD doesn't add it to water supplies. For information about fluoridation in public systems, visit https://www.waterboards.ca.gov/drinking_water/certlic/drinkingwater/Fluoridation.HTML. For details on CCR compliance, see https://www.epa.gov/ccr/how-water-systems-comply-ccr-requirements.

Jurupa Community Services District Municipal Water Company and EPAJurupa Community Services District Municipal Water Report Info
The Jurupa Community Services District (JCSD) has been a cornerstone of the Jurupa area since its establishment in 1956. Initially created to develop a comprehensive sewer system for the region, JCSD's mission expanded as community needs evolved.
The first JCSD Board of Directors took office in 1956, laying the foundation for future growth. As residents became more familiar with the district's capabilities, they began requesting additional services, with reliable water supply emerging as the most pressing concern.
In response to increasing service demands, JCSD hired its first general manager and secretary in 1960. To finance the construction of sewer infrastructure and a treatment facility, the district issued General Obligation Bonds. The inaugural sewer facilities were completed and operational by 1961, marking the beginning of JCSD's essential role in community infrastructure development.
