The California Water Resources Control Board Division of Water (DDW) mandates that community water systems develop and distribute a Consumer Confidence Report annually to provide transparency about water quality and demonstrate compliance with federal and state regulations.

West Kern Water District is dedicated to delivering reliable, high-quality water efficiently and economically. We prioritize maintaining and enhancing our infrastructure to ensure safe water delivery to customers throughout Taft, Maricopa, and Westside communities including South Taft, Taft Heights, Ford Town, Valley & Dustin Acres, Tupman, Guys, Derby Acres, and McKittrick.

This 2017 Annual Water Quality Report details your water quality during 2017. As in previous years, our water met virtually all U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and State health standards. The report provides further explanation of testing requirements and results.

Water is our most precious resource. West Kern's supply comes from a contract with Kern County Water Agency for State Water Project water. This water travels through the California aqueduct and recharges into the ground via spreading ponds. We extract water from the Tulare Lake aquifer using 13 groundwater wells in the northeast district, within the Kern River Sub-basin underflow and an area adjacent to California's Tule Antelope Reserve.

The water undergoes chlorine treatment at Station A (Highway 119 and Golf Course Road) before distribution through 318 miles of pipeline, 26 storage reservoirs, and 15 pump stations. Our system is among California's most complex, and our staff is committed to quality service with water quality and reliability as top priorities.

Despite the lifting of emergency drought restrictions, these prohibitions remain in effect:

• Vehicle washing requires automatic shutoff nozzles
• Sidewalk/driveway washing is prohibited except for health and safety issues
• Outdoor watering must not cause runoff
• No outdoor watering for two days following measurable rainfall

1. How do I begin solid waste service?
   Garbage, bulk and yard waste collection in the City of Deltona is automated. Place your 96-gallon bin and bulk items at the curb before 6 a.m. on your service day. 2. How can I request a garbage bin?
   Contact the City of Deltona Solid Waste Department at (386) 878-8723. New homeowners must provide ownership verification. Alternatively, contact Waste Pro at (386) 574-0778 or email Residential101@wasteprousa.com.
3. When does Waste Pro collect garbage and bulk items?
   Collection occurs once weekly for all residences on scheduled days between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. Place bins at the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. the day before collection and remove them by 9 p.m. the same evening. Position bins on either side of your driveway, at least 3 feet from mailboxes and vehicles, with wheels facing your house and lid opening toward the street.
4. What can I dispose of in my garbage bin?
   All household waste items should be bagged, tied, and placed in your container. This maintains cleanliness and reduces odors.
5. What if weekly collection isn't sufficient for my household?
   Additional bins are acceptable if they have two handles and a lid. Wheeled bins have a 100-pound weight limit, while non-wheeled containers must not exceed 50 pounds.
6. Where should I store my Waste Pro bin?
   Store bins "away from the front of any building or premise" – not at the front face of your house. The side of the house is appropriate.
7. Can I place bulky items like appliances or furniture at the curb?
   Yes, bulk items can be placed at the curb on your regular garbage day (before 6 a.m. or after 6 p.m. the evening before).
8. Will Waste Pro collect large cardboard boxes?
   Yes, large cardboard boxes will be collected with regular solid waste and don't need to be broken down.
9. Do you collect real Christmas trees?
   Yes, trees are collected on yard waste day if they're free of tinsel and decorations.
10. How should I dispose of branches and limbs?
    Branches must be bundled or placed in your garbage bin. They should be cut to 4 feet or shorter, not exceed 6 inches in diameter, and neatly stacked at the curb on yard waste day only. Maximum allowance is 16 bags or bundles of yard waste.
