Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP) Results

North Carolina's Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Public Water Supply (PWS) Section conducted assessments for all water sources across the state. These evaluations aimed to determine each water supply's vulnerability to Potential Contaminant Sources (PCSs). What Preventive Measures Is The City Taking?

The city follows guidelines from the County Public Health Department regarding ground spraying, typically treating within a half-mile radius of any trap where mosquitoes test positive for viruses.

Our contractor uses environmentally responsible water-based insecticides that provide low toxicity, minimal odor, rapid biodegradation, and high mosquito mortality. Spraying typically occurs between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. when mosquitoes are active and winds are calm.
