Pennsylvania Water Utility Companies

Our municipal water comes from 12 wells located within Dover Township boundaries. Water from our wells receives disinfection as the primary treatment method. We also purchase fully treated and disinfected water from the York Water Organization.

A Source Water Protection Plan (SWP Plan) was developed in 2010 by SSM Group, Inc., funded by the PA Department of Environmental Protection. The assessment identified potential vulnerabilities including RCRA facilities, golf courses, transportation corridors, commercial properties, gas stations, underground storage tanks, quarries, agricultural activities, and gas pipelines. However, due to our rigorous water quality monitoring and protective measures within our well head areas, contamination risk remains low.

Our SWP Plan is available for public review at the Dover Township Municipal Building, 2480 West Canal Road, Dover, PA 17315. To schedule a review, please call 717-292-3634.

Certain populations may be more sensitive to water contaminants than others. Individuals with compromised immune systems—such as those undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS, elderly residents, and infants—may face increased health risks. These individuals should consult healthcare providers regarding their water consumption. Guidelines for reducing infection risks from Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available through the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).
